What is domotics?
Domotics is the automation of electric equipment and functions in a
house (lighting, heating, radio, TV, airco, ...). They will get
connected and synchronized to each other.
Why domotics?
Reaching for more safety:
- Connecting the alarminstallation to other functions. Lighting or
a hifi-installation for example can be turned on when something
suspicious is detected.
- Simulation of presence: turns lighting on and of, fly and lower
the roll-down shutters, ...
- Detection and intervention in case of gas- or waterleak
Stimulate comfort:
- Thermisch comfort: heating, roll-down shutter,... synchronize to
each other and on the weather conditions
- Lighting can automaticly be turned on or of. Multiple patches of
light can be commanded by one switch
- Household equipment can be programmed and even be controlled
from distance (for example by phone)
- Audio- and Hifi equipment can be controlled from multiple rooms
Lower expenditure:
- The system let the serveral hosehold equipment work on the
lowest rate
- Lighting and heating will be turn on only when someone is
present in the room
- It will show the owner when certain equipment fails or partly
fails
Which techniques can be automated?
- Lighting
- Other electric equipment
- Heating
- roll-down shutters and sunshading
- Audio/video
- Audio-and video intercoms
- Telephony
- Ventilation
- ....
Which techniques will be connected?
Everything can be connected to each other, but only the necessary
ones will be made. See some examples:
- Alarm with lighting: In cause of an emergency all lights at the
inside and the outside will turn on
- Alarm with consumers: in order to arm the alarm the electric
stove will be turned of.
- Heating and sunshading: If the room-temperature is high enough
and the sun shines, the sunshade will lower.
- TV/Audio and lighting: a condition 'to watch television' turns
on the tv, dims the lighting (and also the heating can be turned up)
- Central control panel: due to the connection between all the
techniques you can see the status of the alarm, the temperature of
the boiler, where the lights are on, and who is ringing the doorbell,...
from one control panel.
